StudyFlow is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — a modern web technology that lets you install any website as a native-feeling app. Once installed, StudyFlow launches from your home screen or dock, runs in its own window (no browser tabs), and loads instantly. No app store, no updates, no storage worries.
A Progressive Web App is a website that can be installed on your device like a native app. It combines the best of both worlds:
App-like experience
Opens in its own window without browser chrome (no address bar, no tabs). Feels like a native app.
Instant launch
Tap the icon on your home screen or taskbar and StudyFlow opens immediately — no need to navigate to a URL.
Always up to date
Unlike App Store apps, PWAs update automatically in the background. You always have the latest version.
Minimal storage
PWAs are lightweight — typically under 5 MB. They don't consume significant storage on your device.
Open Safari
Navigate to app.studyflow.courses in Safari. Important: this only works in Safari — not Chrome or Firefox on iOS.
Tap the Share button
Tap the share icon at the bottom of the screen (the square with an upward arrow).
Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
You may need to scroll down in the share sheet to find this option.
Tap "Add"
Optionally rename the app. Then tap "Add" in the top-right corner. The StudyFlow icon will appear on your home screen.
Open Chrome
Navigate to app.studyflow.courses in Google Chrome.
Tap the install banner or menu
Chrome may show an "Install app" banner at the bottom. If not, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Tap "Install app" or "Add to Home screen"
The wording varies by Android version. Both options do the same thing.
Confirm
Tap "Install" in the confirmation dialog. StudyFlow will appear in your app drawer and on your home screen.
All major desktop browsers support PWA installation. Here are the steps for the most common browsers:
Most Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Arc, Opera, Vivaldi) support the same install flow as Chrome. Firefox does not currently support PWA installation on desktop, but you can still use StudyFlow as a regular website in Firefox.
How do I uninstall?
On mobile, long-press the icon and choose "Remove" or "Uninstall". On desktop (Chrome), click the three-dot menu inside the app window and select "Uninstall StudyFlow".
How do updates work?
The app updates automatically whenever you open it and a new version is available. There's nothing to do on your end — you always run the latest version.
Does it work offline?
StudyFlow requires an internet connection for AI-powered features (generating summaries, quizzes). However, previously loaded content is cached and can be viewed offline.
Does it drain my battery?
No. When not in use, the app consumes zero resources — it's not running in the background like a native app.
